SCOOP Beta 0.1.2.0 Changelog:
  • SCOOP will now check for a newer version on startup and prompt you to update if a newer version is available.
    NOTE: SCOOP will not download or install anything directly. SCOOP simply pings a website to see if a newer version is available. When you choose to update, the game will close and the SCOOP itch.io page will open in your browser so you can download and install the new version.
  • The player icon has changed. (The "C" in the new SCOOP title logo is the new player icon.)
  • Keyboard controls (except when creating a new profile) have been consolidated to four directional keys, an action button, and a back button (with some alternates included). The controls are displayed on the main menu.
  • Key Configuration may be added if there is sufficient demand, but the current solution of allowing both arrows and WASD to move as well as both Space and Enter to scoop should work for the majority of users.
  • SCOOP now supports gamepads. The control information on the main menu and in the tutorial will display the gamepad controls alongside the keyboard controls if a gamepad is detected. An Xbox 360 controller is recommended, but the game should control fine with any gamepad.
  • The pages of text in the Learn section have been replaced with a playable tutorial to better explain the game.
  • Holding a directional key down now results in continuous movement (in game and in menus).
  • The player icon now takes a few frames to move to the new position.
  • Volume Settings are now saved and loaded from the user profile, as was intended.
  • The window is now centered when starting in Fullscreen and switching to Windowed mode.
  • New profile names are now limited to letters and numbers. If your old profile name worked before, it will continue to do so.
  • Escape now backs out of the Credits screen, the Profile screen, and the Quit submenu of the Pause menu.
  • Escape is now used to Pause the game instead of P. There was no need for two separate pause buttons.
  • The music no longer restarts when the tempo changes during a game.
  • You can now change the Config settings during a game or Quit a game from the new Pause menu.
  • Space (or Enter, or a gamepad face button) is now used after a game to advance to the Scores. (A prompt will be displayed. The prompt will always say "Space.")
  • The Scores are now numbered from 1 to 10 on the Scores screen.
  • The Debug text is now hidden by default, but can still be toggled on with F1.
  • The Debug functionality of the R key to restart the game has been removed.
  • Theme colors are handled over 60% more efficiently than before. (This won't be noticeable unless you manually check the theme ini files.)

SCOOP Beta 0.1.2.1 Changelog:
  • Added a new Halloween Theme to SCOOP Premium.
  • Added mouse controls to the control listing for menus.
  • Added "No Gamepad Found." message to the menu when no gamepad is detected.
  • Changed the tutorial text to remove mention of the 6 piece colors by name and added the ability for themes to use custom piece colors.
  • Fixed the music bug in 0.1.2.0. The music now starts at the correct volume.

SCOOP Beta 0.1.2.2 Changelog:
  • Changed the grid background for the Halloween theme.
  • Changed the pieces and colors in the Chess theme.
  • Added a border around the center area in the Chess theme.
  • Accumulated points are now visible as numbers moving from the pieces collected to the current score.
  • A colored trail now appears behind the player when scooping.

  • Fixed a major bug accidentally introduced in 0.1.2.2 which resulted in the spawn rate of pieces never increasing at the Slow, Normal, and Fast pace.

SCOOP Beta 0.1.3.0 Changelog:
  • The indicator for where the next piece will spawn has been replaced and is now animated to help draw attention to it.
  • The indicator for where the next piece will spawn is no longer displayed during the tutorial until the tutorial mentions it in order to prevent it's animation from drawing attention away from the flashing player icon at the start of the tutorial.
  • Added a new Poker theme to SCOOP Premium.
  • Fixed a rare bug where scooping while the pieces ahead of you are advancing can cause the player to move to the wrong tile.
  • Changed the font and removed the "Pace: " preface from the Pace display in the bottom right.

  • The tutorial now works correctly with the Poker theme. Previously the colors mentioned in the tutorial text were incorrect due to the Poker theme's pieces being ordered differently.

SCOOP Beta 0.1.4.0 Changelog:
  • The default sprites for the pieces (used in the Light and Dark themes) are now external sprites, like those of the other themes. All external sprites are now loaded at game start and added to a single texture page to greatly reduce the number of texture swaps necessary.
  • All sprites are now drawn at once in a batch to further reduce the number of texture swaps necessary.
  • Changed the Pace display during the tutorial to match the font and style of the display during the actual game.
  • Increased the font size of the score text for each piece (the number that floats from the piece to to score display) to eliminate an otherwise unnecessary font from the texture pages.
  • The right stick on a gamepad can now be used to scoop in the direction it's pushed without moving the player. This allows for an alternate dual analog control scheme where the left stick moves and the right stick scoops. The face buttons (A, B, X, or Y) can still be used to scoop in the direction you're facing instead.
  • Some of the tutorial text has changed, either for clarity, or to provide additional control information when a gamepad is detected.
